The Friday of All Fridays

“And when they came to the place which is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on the right and one on the left. And Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.’” - Luke 23:33-34, RSV-2CE

The greatest act of love in the history of the world occurred two thousand years ago. Jesus Christ, Savior of the world, Son of God, was nailed to a heavy cross. Why? For you. For me. For all.

Today, we remember that Friday of all Fridays: the day that sin was defeated. By taking on the punishment for sin, Jesus saved humanity from eternal punishment for our sins. He took the fall (literally) for us. We can be free from the weight of sin because of this free gift.

A song that I hear every Good Friday and is fitting for this day is linked below. This version is beautifully sung alongside The Stations of the Cross. I invite you to pray with it, as we reflect on this solemn day that Jesus took on our sins for us, by paying the ultimate price – death.

“Weeping may last for the night, but joy comes with the morning” (Psalm 30:5)

In Christ,

Lauren
